Hat overview
The Summit Hat features braided cables and slipped stitches. The hat is knitted in the round seamlessly from the bottom up. You will knit the brim first, then the body of the hat, and shape the crown.
The hat is designed with a negative ease to fit snugly.
This hat is knitted with medium-weight merino wool.

SUMMIT HAT KNITTING PATTERN
Cast on
With smaller needles, CO on 98 sts using the Long-tail cast-on method or the one you prefer.
Join in the round being careful not to twist the sts (place a marker if you wish to mark the beginning of the round).
I prefer using the invisible join method:
Step 1: CO 98 + 1 extra st (a total of 99 sts).
Step 2: Slip the first st purlwise from the left needle to the right needle.
Step 3: Bring the second st from the right needle over the top of the first st (the one, that we have passed from the left needle)
Step 4: Put that slipped st from the right needle to the left needle (98 sts left). Pull on the strands to tighten.
Brim
Round 1: *K1, P1* to end.
Repeat round 1 until the brim measures approx. 5 cm (2”) or your desired length.
Increases
Round 1: *K7, M1*, repeat 13 more times (112 sts).
Hat
Switch to larger needles.
Round 1: *P2, K9, P2, Sl1* repeat to end.

Round 7: *P2, K3, C6F, P2, Sl1* repeat to end.
Round 8: *P2, K9, P2, K1* repeat to end.
Repeat rounds 1-8 three more times. Work rounds 1-2 one more time.

Switch to double-pointed needles or circular needles with a longer cable (for the magic loop method) when necessary.

Round 8: K to end.
Round 9: K2tog to end (12 sts).
Finishing
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Thread a tapestry needle and draw the tail tightly through the remaining stitches. Weave in all loose ends.
Wet block the finished item to set the finished size and even out the stitches.
Simply soak the knitted item in lukewarm water with some soak wash for 10-15 minutes. Lift it from the water and gently squeeze the excess water out. Next, lay it on a clean towel (make sure it doesn’t transfer color), and roll it up to remove moisture.
Lay the item on a clean and dry towel (that doesn’t transfer color) and let it dry. Your knitting will look much better after this.
