Thank you, Judith! You can make the wrap narrower by removing a couple of pattern repeats. There are 6 pattern repeats (+ border stitches and one symmetry stitch), for a scarf you can make 3 pattern repeats, you should cast on 41 stitches. You will follow the pattern, and when working the chevron part you will make 3 repeats, instead of 6:
Row 5: K5, *K1, Yo, Ssk, K5, K2tog, Yo* repeat 2 more times, K6.
And in the eyelet part, you will make 10 repeats, instead of 19.
Row 21: K5, *K1, K2tog, Yo* repeat 9 more times, K6.
