Hi there- in the instructions you say k2tog (knit 2 together) but in the Abbreviations for k2tog you say “ purl 2 together”.
Which should I do?

Hi, sure! On the last round of knitting the body of the hat you should place 8 stitch markers- they will indicate where to make the crown decreases in the following rounds (if you have removable stitch markers, you can finish the body and then place the markers). You simply work this last round in the established pattern (1x1 rib) and at the same time place stitch markers:
11sts (=*k1, p1* 5 times, k1), place a stitch marker, 3sts (=p1, k1, p1), place a stitch marker, and so on to the end of the round.
As a result you will have: 11sts, marker, 3sts, marker, 21sts, marker, 3sts, marker, 21sts, marker, 3sts, marker, 21sts, marker, 3sts, marker, 10sts.
