Your hack about winding the yarn 10 times for 10 inches should work out well for me. (At least I&#039;m hopeful that I can do a better job in estimating the amount of yarn required for my project.)

Hi, this greatly depends on the pattern and yarn. Which pattern are you interested in? If it&#039;s the twisted headband in the English rib, then I&#039;d recommend casting on 21 stitches (so the width would be approx. 3.5&quot; or 9 cm wide) and knit until you reach approx. 18.5&quot; or 47cm.
