Hat overview

The Raindrops Hat is a comfortable beanie with a folded brim. The design features a two-row slip stitch pattern.

The hat is knitted in the round seamlessly from the bottom up. You will knit the brim first, then the body of the hat, and shape the crown.

The hat is designed with a negative ease to fit snugly.

This hat is knitted with medium weight merino wool.

You might want to knit a matching scarf – Raindrops Scarf knitting pattern.

You will find the knitting instructions below. Enjoy!

  • Yarn: ~115g (4.06 oz) medium weight yarn (category #4). I used Drops Big Merino in the color ice blue (uni 23). It’s 100% merino wool. If you don’t have the mentioned yarn at hand, here are similar yarn options:
  • The One Merino from Wool and the Gang
  • Rialto Aran from Debbie Bliss
  • Merino Extrafine 85 from Schachenmayr
  • 4mm (US 6) 40cm (16″) circular knitting needles
  • 4mm (US6) double-pointed needles or 80cm (32″) circular needles (for the crown decreases).
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Finishing

Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Thread a tapestry needle and draw the tail tightly through the remaining stitches. Weave in all loose ends.

Wet block the finished item to set the finished size and even out the stitches.

Simply soak the knitted item in lukewarm water with some soak wash for 10-15 minutes. Lift it from the water and gently squeeze the excess water out. Next, lay it on a clean towel (make sure it doesn’t transfer color), and roll it up to remove moisture.

Lay the item on a clean and dry towel (that doesn’t transfer color) and let it dry. Your knitting will look much better after this.

I hope you enjoyed this hat knitting pattern, be sure to check out my other knitting patterns!

Thank you for stopping by,
Mirella.

What do you consider the wrong side? Or is the pattern stitch for the brim the wrong side?

The wrong side is the one that will not be visible after the hat is finished. As you work the brim, the actual pretty side of the pattern will be inside the hat, but as you will fold up the brim – it will be visible.

The pattern is written for 3 different sizes – S, M, and L. When you get to round 6 you follow the instructions for your size- size S and L (the instructions are identical for both sizes), or size M.
