Hi, the instructions for the wrong-side rows (2, 4, 6, and 8) are correct – you should knit the first 3 stitches of every row (on the right and wrong sides), and slip the last 3 stitches purlwise with yarn in front.

This headband has an i-cord edging, that is worked as follows k3 at the beginning of every row, slip the last 3 sts purlwise with yarn in front. It is the same for the right and wrong sides.
All the wrong-side rows (2, 4, 6, 8) should start with k5 – that is k3 (i-cord sts) +k2 (2sts, that are purl sts on the right side).

Same Linda! If you noticed there is only one row that starts with knit 5 which is row 2 all the rest start with knit 3 and slip 3. I am not sure if it is just a typo 🙁

I had the same problem the one side would not work out, so I tried my own way and this work.
Row 1 , 3, 5, 7 end with WYB
Row 2,4,6,8 begin P3, K2, P1, K2, P9, K2, P1, K2,SL 3 wyf

and this work perfectly

The headband has an I-cord edge – you will knit the first 3 stitches of every row and you will slip (with yarn IN FRONT) the last 3 stitches of every row. This will create a smooth side edge.
