<h2 id="pattern-overview" style="text-align: center;">PATTERN OVERVIEW</h2>
<p>This adorable cosmetic headband with a bow is great for your home spa procedures. You can make headbands in different colors and give them as gifts!</p>
<p>It is super cute, and it gets you into that girly cosmetic-ritual mood as soon as you put it on! The headband holds the hair back nicely, while you&#8217;re washing your face, exfoliating, putting on a mask, etc. It has an elastic inside to do the job!</p>
<p>The headband is made with chenille yarn, which is very soft and pleasant to the touch. I have used Bambi by Katia, it&#8217;s a super-bulky yarn, so the headband was finished very fast. Too fast even!</p>
<p>The headband consists of 3 parts &#8211; the tube itself, the bow, and the middle part. They are crochet separately and assembled later.</p>
<p><strong>Measurements: </strong>To fit women&#8217;s medium, but it&#8217;s is easily adjustable. If you want to change <span style="font-size: 1rem;">the width of the headband use a wider/ narrower elastic band and chain more/fewer chains. For this pattern, it is not important if it is an even or an odd number of stitches. </span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">If you want to change the circumference just work fewer/ more rounds.</span></p>
<p><strong>Gauge </strong>is not important for this project &#8211; you need to chain enough stitches to wrap the tube around the elastic band.</p>

<p>The headband is worked in a continuous spiral.</p>
<p><strong>Foundation chain:</strong> Chain 9.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-606 size-full" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-1.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Foundation chain for the cosmetic headband" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-1.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-1.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-1.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p>Slip stitch into the first chain to join in the round (make sure the V&#8217;s are not twisted).</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-607" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-2.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Slip stitching the foundation chain" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-2.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-2.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-2.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="(max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p><strong>Round 1:</strong> Chain 1, single crochet into every stitch until the end of the row (I&#8217;m crocheting through both loops).</p>
<p><em>TIP: Since we are working in a continuous spiral, you can place a marker to identify the first stitch. This will help to track the number of stitches in each round.</em></p>

<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-639" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-16.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Row 1 is finished" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-16.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-16.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-16.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p><strong>Round 2:</strong> When you get to the end of the 1st round just continue working in a continuous spiral. Single crochet into the first stitch &#8211; the marked one (remove the marker and place it into the new stitch) and single crochet into every stitch until the end of the round.</p>
<p>Repeat round 2 until the piece measures the desired length, which is: <strong>Your head circumference + 5cm (~2&#8221;). </strong>In my case, that&#8217;s 60cm (23.62&#8221;).</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-610" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-4.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Finished crochet band" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-4.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-4.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-4.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<hr>
<h2 id="inserting-the-elastic">INSERTING THE ELASTIC</h2>
<p>The length of the elastic depends on how tight you want your headband to be. For me, the comfortable grip is my <strong>head circumference + 2cm (~0.75&#8221;)</strong>, but it&#8217;s always better to measure first.</p>
<p>Attach a safety pin to one end of the elastic and thread it through the crochet tube (make sure the elastic is not twisted). Now wrap the tube with the elastic inside around your head and mark the comfortable length on both edges of the elastic.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-611" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-5.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Crochet tube with elastic inside" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-5.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-5.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-5.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /><br />
Overlap the edges of the elastic, so the markings meet and sew them together. You can use a sewing machine and a zigzag stitch, or just do it by hand, as I did.</p>
<p>Cut the excess elastic, leaving 0,5cm (0.25&#8243;) on both edges.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-612" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-6.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Elastic sewn with a zig-zag stitch" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-6.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-6.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-6.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p>Now you will need to join the edges of the tube together. I like to slip stitch the edges, but you can use a tapestry needle to seem them together.</p>
<p><strong>Step 1:</strong>&nbsp;Line up the edges. Chain 1.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-634" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-14.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Chain 1" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-14.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-14.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-14.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 2:</strong> Insert your hook into the 1st stitch as if to single crochet and insert it into the corresponding stitch on the other edge.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-635" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-13.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Insert the hook into the stitches" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-13.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-13.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-13.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 3:</strong> Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops. You&#8217;ll have 1 loop on your hook.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-636" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-15.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Yarn over and pull through all 3 stitches" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-15.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-15.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-15.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p>Repeat <strong>steps 2 and 3</strong> across, fasten, and weave in the ends.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<hr>
<h2 id="bow">BOW</h2>
<p>The bow is worked exactly like the headband &#8211; in a continuous spiral.</p>
<p><strong>Foundation chain: </strong>Chain 30.</p>
<p>Slip stitch into the first chain to join in the round (make sure the V&#8217;s are not twisted).</p>
<p><strong>Round 1:</strong> Chain 1, single crochet into every stitch until the end of the round (I&#8217;m crocheting through both loops).</p>
<p><strong>Round 2:</strong> When you get to the end of the 1st row just continue working in a spiral. Single crochet into the first stitch &#8211; the marked one (remove the marker and place it into the new stitch) and single crochet into every stitch until the end of the round.</p>
<p>Work in a spiral until the piece is 9 cm (3.5&#8221;) high. The finished measurements are 16,5cm (6.3&#8221;) x 9cm (3.5&#8221;).</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><em>If you want the bow to be wider, add extra stitches to the foundation chain, higher – work an extra row or two.</em></p>
<p>Fasten off, cut the yarn leaving approximately 15cm (6&#8221;) tail. Now run the yarn tail through the center of the bow (through both layers) to create the cinched look (I just used my hook, you can also use a big enough tapestry needle).</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-614" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-7.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Crochet bow" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-7.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-7.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-7.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p>Weave in the ends.</p>
<hr>
<h2 id="middle-part">MIDDLE PART</h2>

<p>Lay the headband down, place the bow, and the middle on top (on the seam of the headband to hide it).</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-617" src="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-9.jpg?resize=790%2C527&#038;ssl=1" alt="Headband assembly" width="790" height="527" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-9.jpg?w=790&amp;ssl=1 790w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-9.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/mirellamoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/How-to-crochet-spa-headband-9.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p>Wrap the middle around both the bow and headband until it connects in the back. Slip stitch the edges of the middle part just like you did with the band:</p>
<p>Line up the edges. Chain 1, insert your hook into the 1st stitch as if to single crochet and insert it into the corresponding stitch on the other edge. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops. You&#8217;ll have 1 loop on your hook.</p>

<p>Repeat until the end of the row, fasten off and weave in the ends.</p>
