PATTERN OVERVIEW

The Crust is a seamless mobius headband. It is worked in the round on circular needles and it is double-layered.

I used provisional cast-on and seamed the live stitches from both edges together with the Kitchener stitch, so there is no visible seam.

The headband features the Andalusian stitch, which is really fast and easy to work.

Measurements: To fit women’s medium, but it’s is easily adjustable. If you want to change the width of the headband cast on more/fewer stitches, but the total must be a multiple of 2. If you are knitting for a smaller/bigger circumference just work fewer/ more rows.

Finished size: 12cm (4.7″) wide and 24cm (9.5″) long.

Gauge: 21 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10cm (4 x 4″ ) in pattern.

You will find the free knitting pattern below. Enjoy!

With the working yarn and circular needles cast on 52 stitches.

Cut the working yarn leaving a long tail of approximately 80cm (32”) to seam the edges together. Thread the yarn through a tapestry needle. Seam the edges together using the Kitchener stitch.

Step 1: Insert the tapestry needle through the first stitch on the front needle KNITWISE, slip the stitch off the needle.

Insert the tapestry needle through the next stitch on the front needle PURLWISE. Pull the yarn through leaving the stitch on the needle.

Step 2: Insert the tapestry needle through the first stitch on the back needle PURLWISE, slip the stitch off the needle.

Insert the tapestry needle through the next stitch on the front needle KNITWISE. Pull the yarn through leaving the stitch on the needle.

Repeat steps 1-2 until two stitches remain (one stitch on each needle). Work those last stitches together with the first stitches, because we need to go through each stitch twice, and the first stitches were worked only once.

Insert the tapestry needle through the last stitch on the front needle KNITWISE, slip the stitch off the needle.

Insert the tapestry needle through the first stitch on the front needle PURLWISE.

Insert the tapestry needle through the last stitch on the back needle PURLWISE, slip the stitch off the needle.

Insert the tapestry needle through the next stitch on the front needle KNITWISE.

Weave in the ends and you’re all done!

Here is how the seam looks like (I’ve marked it with a tapestry needle).
